Well it's taken 12 days to find the right car and here he is. Had to be powerful enough to pull the caravan but also have 7 seats so that we can put a baby seat it when he is born in March. For those interested in cars it's a 3 litre turbo Nissan Patrol and can pull 3.2 ton. The caravan loaded is 2.8 ton! We pick up the caravan in a couple of hours so am getting nervous to pull it along the busy Perth roads this afternoon. Had to have electric brakes fitted to the car which activate the brakes on the caravan. The guy who fitted them told me that if someone pulls out on me and I have to hit my brakes hard, to push in the red button he fitted and this will lock up the caravan brakes! So make sure no one pushes that in whilst you're driving he said!

Ok, so we are Aussie residents now. I wanted to get this when I was in Oz in 1985 so only taken 29 years!. Had fun at Auckland airport with 12 pieces of luggage. The suitcases all over the 23 kg limit however much we shuffled the contents around. So I go up to the lady who is strictly weighing everyones bags and put first bag on but I don't let go and keep holding it enough that it's under! Then a load of people turn up and the woman gets flustered and says are the rest und...er? Well you can guess my reply as I quickly put the bags on the conveyor belt!
The flights went well and girls watched TV on the plane for 7 hours straight which kept them quiet but slightly cross eyed by the end. My wonderful cousin Terry Eames picked us up with his equally wonderful daughter Sara Eames as needed 2 cars for the mountain of bags. Now relaxing at Terry's recovering from last few days. Have a hire car and a long list of tasks for next week. We view our new home for the next year tomorrow (the caravan that is)

Just about to head off to the airport here in Christchurch. No one ill thank goodness however all the bags seem overweight. Praying for a friendly Air Nz check in person. Everyone is wearing extra clothes to lighten the load so will be a hot check in!

Just a quick update. Well after a few very hectic last days of packing, selling and sending in Nelson we have finally arrived in Christchurch exhausted. Got here at 10pm last night. The poor rental car was completely overloaded and Stef had to have her feet on the dashboard! Ayla had a temperature today but seems better this evening so should be good for a visit to the wildlife park tomorrow. Then we fly to Perth to stay with my wonderful cousin Terry on Friday. We have al...ready bought the caravan for our trip around Western Australia so just need to buy something strong enough to pull it as it's 24 foot long (8 metres)! We have spent all evening distributing our belongings between our bags so each one is under 23 kilos. Hopefully our scales are accurate!
By the way for those of you who don't know yet we found out we are having a boy on the scan last Monday. Very pleased!
